06/26/2008 - We've been shopping in Zabars since the 1970s. Back then they were an unique store where quality
American and imported foods met in abundance. Today there's at least one "gourmet" shop in every neighborhood and
we tend to forget Zabars. A recent visit reminded as to why this is such a vital New York food institution. Walking in past
a disply of pungent olives got us quickly in the mood for food. The chocolate section has changed since the last time we
dropped in two years ago. A partial list of brands represented at Zabars includes Galler, Marquise de Sevigny, Lindt,
Camille Bloch, Vosges, Scharffen Berger, Vintage Plantations, Dagoba, Guylian, Suisse, New Tree - a favorite that has
seemed harder to find recently, Michel Cluizel, Taza and from Sicily a company who's chocolate has to be tried Casa
Don Puglisi. We highly recommend that when in the neighborhood you drop by for a visit.
2006 - This Upper West Side gourmet institution carries a tremendous selection of Chocolate bars. A recent trip found
among other brands represented Guylian , Cote d'Or Dark and Milk , Trufettes de France , Perugina , Larzaroni ( Dark,
Milk, Hazelnut, Almonds) , Ritter Sports (many different) , Suisse Bars ( Dark, Milk, Hazelnut) . Droste (Dark, Milk,
Hazelnut) , Galler Bars (Milk, Dark , Hazelnut) , Lindt (many different) , Scharffen Berger (many different) , Plantations
Arriba (many different) , Munz (nice large bars) , Valrhona (many different) , Dagoba (Milk, Dark) , New Tree (Milk, Dark)
and Michel Cluizel Bars. This is just a partial listing but it does give you some idea of the assortment available on a
regular basis.
